Under way-but unsure of the way forward?

We help multiply mentoring IMPACT!

  • Perhaps you've established the basic structure of your program or matched the first few mentor/mentee pairs . . . . Or

  • You've been mentoring for a while but think you could be achieving greater impact. . . .

The Mentoring Center would like to be your guide...

Good news! Non-profit organizations that provide mentoring services to youth can apply for 20 hours of no-cost training and technical assistance through the National Mentoring Resource Center. Please click here for more information!
How Can The Mentoring Center Help?
We can provide as much help and support as you want or need, tailoring ideas and solutions to your unique issues and challenges. For example:

Coaching you in “Best Practices”:
We explain the importance of monitoring the mentor-mentee match and suggest ways to increase the value of individual matches—and of your total program.

The Mentoring Center can help you develop:

  • A statement of purpose and long-range plan
  • A recruitment plan for both mentors and participants
  • An orientation for mentors and participants
  • Eligibility screening for mentors and participants
  • A readiness and training curriculum for all
    mentors and participants
  • A matching strategy
  • A monitoring process
  • A support, recognition and retention component
  • Closure steps (if necessary)
  • An evaluation process

Helping you define desired outcomes and how to measure them:
Varying programs focus on developmental assets, school attendance, behavior, or school performance (grades). Other programs may focus on continuity of attendance at the mentoring program, involvement in community activities or progress to post-high school education. We can help you determine how to plan for and measure the results that matter to you and your group.
